Cycling in Cair

The sports outreach events are implemented in the local communities involved in this project. The overall goal of the activity was to promote collaboration through sportsmanship and send a message on P/CVE. The activity included elements of collaboration, communication and connection of children and people from different ethnic and religious backgrounds with focus on promoting cycling as an ecological and healthy way of transportation.

The participants of the event are citizens and young people from the Municipality of Chair. The event is consisted of a cycling tour through the main streets of Municipality of Cair, started from “John Keneddy” Str. Towards “Lazar Trpovski”; “Vtora Makedonska Brigada” and “Hristijan Todorovski Karposh”. The cycling tour ended at the park of Cair Municipality where music bands performed till the end of this sports entertainment and networking event. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands, HE Mr. Walter Plomp and Mayor of Cair Municipality Mr.Visar Ganiu took part of the cycling event. Among the participants there will be few cyclists’ – role models who are part of a cycling club “Shkupi Cycling”. 

Centre for Common Ground has received a grant from the British Embassy and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Skopje to implement the project called “Strengthening the resilience of local communities to violent extremism in Macedonia”, with duration from October 15 2018 until October 15, 2020. The project aims to support the National Strategy and Action Plan for Countering Violent Extremism by strengthening cooperation between local actors including civil, religious and youth leaders and local/central authorities on CVE issues, and by establishing Community Action Teams (CATs) within three pilot Municipalities, Cair, Gostivar and Kicevo.
